Rosewood

Blue skies, highway signs, straight ahead to Rosewood
Pine trees always lead, straight back to Rosewood
In my mind I see my childhood home
In my mind I see the places I would roam
Circle games on bicycles on dusty country roads
Country store where bottled drinks would bring us back for more

School days with time to play, peace of mind in Rosewood
Streetlights, fireflies, summer life in Rosewood

Backyard garden, rows and rows of green beans on their poles,
Peach trees still remind me to do what I’ve been told
Bundled up with ribbon beneath the Christmas tree
These are childhood memories, they are gifts to me

In my mind I see my childhood homeIn my mind
I see the places I would roam
Twiggs and family corner houseon highway number six
Back porch refuge, days and times of memories like this
I’m going home.

In my mind I see my childhood home
In my mind I see the places I would roam,
Sunbeams through my window stream down over Rosewood.
I’m there without a care, straight ahead to Rosewood.

I’m there without a care, straight ahead to Rosewood.
